dc.description.abstractIntroducción: La Enfermedad Celíaca es un trastorno autoinmune caracterizado por una respuesta inmune anómala al gluten con potenciales complicaciones, por lo que se destaca la importancia de una monitorización epidemiológica. Objetivo: Describir la Tasa de Egreso Hospitalario por enfermedad celíaca durante el periodo 2020-2023 en Chile. Metodología: Estudio observacional, descriptivo y retrospectivo. A partir de datos del Departamento de Estadísticas e Información de Salud e Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas de Chile, se realizó un análisis de la Tasa de Egreso Hospitalario por enfermedad celiaca durante el periodo 2020-2023 en Chile, según sexo, grupo etario y forma clínica de presentación. Resultado: Se registraron 336 egresos hospitalarios, determinando una Tasa de Egreso Hospitalario del periodo de 0,48 egresos por cada 100.000 habitantes. La tasa más elevada se establece el 2022, con predominio del sexo femenino. La mayor tasa se presentó en pacientes de 5 a 9 años. Se establece el 2022 como el año con mayor Promedio de Estadía Hospitalaria con 9 días. Discusión: La Tasa de Egreso Hospitalario por enfermedad celíaca en Chile entre 2020 y 2023 refleja tendencias que podrían estar influenciadas por factores externos, como la pandemia de COVID-19. Las mayores tasas observadas en niños y adultos mayores evidencian mayor susceptibilidad a complicaciones en estos grupos etarios. Conclusión: Se pone de manifiesto la influencia de factores epidemiológicos, clínicos y contextuales en las tendencias observadas, reforzando la necesidad de un enfoque diferenciado en el diagnóstico y manejo. Introduction: Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disorder characterized by an abnormal immune response to gluten, with potential complications, highlighting the importance of epidemiological monitoring. Objective: To describe the Hospital Discharge Rate for Celiac Disease during the period 2020-2023 in Chile. Methodology: Observational, descriptive, and retrospective study. Using data from the Department of Health Statistics and Information and the National Institute of Statistics of Chile, an analysis of the Hospital Discharge Rate for Celiac Disease was conducted for the period 2020-2023, categorized by sex, age group, and clinical presentation. Result: A total of 336 hospital discharges were recorded, determining a period discharge rate of 0,48 discharges per 100.000 inhabitants. The highest rate was observed in 2022, with a predominance of female patients. The highest discharge rate was recorded in patients aged 5 to 9 years. Additionally, 2022 was identified as the year with the longest Hospital Stay, averaging 9 days. Discussion: The Hospital Discharge Rate for celiac disease in Chile between 2020 and 2023 reflects trends that may have been influenced by external factors, such as the COVID-19. The higher rates observed in children and older adults indicate greater susceptibility to complications in these age groups. Conclusion: The influence of epidemiological, clinical, and contextual factors on the observed trends is evident, reinforcing the need for a differentiated approach to diagnosis.
