Abstract

During the second semester of /012, professors Daniel Oliva and Jorge Hernández renewed their fourth version of the integrated workshop in the undergraduate designer degree program at udd, by incorporating the educational method for design called Compass developed by Index: Design to Improve Life®. in this test version, entitled "design in the anthropocene", the ?2 sessions of the semester were distributed in the four phases that the methodology consigns (prepare, perceive, prototype and produce), applying techniques drawn from the teacher's guide, together with others made by the duo. at the same time, attention was paid to the type of the learning spaces (sculptor, participant, consultant and coach), giving different emphasis to the internal sections of each phase. thanks to the depth of its content as well as its participatory pedagogy, this academic experience reveals good results in the final projects and also that the model is highly effective in developing workshops during the last semesters of the udd undergraduate designer degree program. highlighted in this particular case study are significant techniques such as persona and heart diagram (person profile), oracle round, open space and sum up. also noticeable is the need to extend the length of the prototyping stage, to deepen the techniques of the teacher's guide and intensify the class-to-class planning, for the next versions of the integrated workshop or another program of similar characteristics.
