The present study aims to compare the results obtained between conventional periodontal treatment with periodontal therapy combined with the use of photodynamic therapy. For this, a systematic review of published articles was carried out, an attempt was made to systematize and update the most recent contributions in this field of oral health. The study concludes that conventional therapy for the treatment of chronic periodontitis in adult patients assisted with photodynamic treatment obtains better results than the intervention of conventional therapy. Likewise, the study concludes that more research must be carried out to obtain more precise results.
