Objective Toidentifythetrainingneedsofprimarycareteamsbyintegratinginsights fromtheseprofessionals,aswellasdementiapatientsandtheircarepartners. Methods: Qualitativeresearchmethodswereapplied,usingfocusgroupinterviews withhealthprofessionalsandindividual interviewswithpeoplelivingwithdementia andtheircarepartners.Adirectqualitativeanalysisof15recordedinterviews(3focus groupsand12individuals)wasperformedusingthetranscribeddata. Results: Primarycareprofessionalsrecognizetheimportanceofcontinuouseducationondementia andexpressed theneed formoreknowledgeabout diagnosis, symptommanagement, and interpersonal andcommunicationskills.Carepartners anddementiapatientshighlightedtheneedforabetterdiagnosticdisclosureprocess, improvedcontinuityofcare,andavailabilityofgreaterpostdiagnosissupport.
